COMPANY OF MERIDIAN RAILWAYS OF GREECE: The company Eteria Mesimvrinon Sidirodromon Ellados (EMSE) was founded on 28 June 1889 with President Andreas Sygros. It was also known by the name Sidirodromi Milon - Kalamon SMK (Mili - Kalamata Railways). It had been granted the right to operate the line Mili Nafpliou - Kalamata. The company since the end of 1890 already was facing financial difficulties in completing the line Mili Nafpliou - Kalamata. Within the same year it acquired SPK. On 17 Δεκεμβρίου 1891, the company, although it had entered into an agreement with a bank for the granting of a loan, was declared deposed from undertaking the construction project of the Tripoli - Diavolitsi section (which it was part of the original line). The typical end of the company came with its incorporation into the SPAP in 1899.
